About Direct Care Workers
Working as a workforce intermediary, DHTI’s Healthcare Career Pathways program bridges the employment gap for newcomers with healthcare background to re-enter the healthcare workforce in the United States. We help immigrants, refugees, and asylees navigate and complete healthcare training programs, gain work experience in a healthcare setting, and advance them in their healthcare profession. Working with our educator and employer partners, we provide the necessary wraparound support to create adequate pathways for participants to obtain sustainable wages and re-enter healthcare careers. At the same time, we are building a pipeline of culturally competent and linguistically diverse healthcare workers to meet the increasing demand for qualified and diverse healthcare workers. DHTI’s Direct Care Workers include training to become Community/Behavioral Health Workers, Caregivers, Respite Care workers, or Nursing Assistants.
